We are seeking a lead data engineer to join our team and to work on a variety of assignments alongside our product and commercial management teams. The role will require you to travel at least once every two weeks on a Wednesday to our London office. Duties will include cloud infrastructure development as well as working closely with our product teams on existing projects and new innovations to support company growth and profitability.

Ke y ResponsibilitiesnDesigning and implementing scalable data pipelines using tools such as Apache Spark, Google PubSub etc.nOptimising data storage and retrieval systems for maximum performance using both relational an d NoSQL databases.nContinuously monitoring and improving the performance of our data solutions to meet our clients' needs.nCollaborating with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and provide technical solutions.nContributing to the development of best practices and standards for data engineering within the organization.nDeveloping and implementing data models and algorithms to support data science and machine learning initiatives .

Technical RequirementsnProven track record leading complex ETL and Data Infrastructure projects, as well as designing and building data intensive applications and services.nExperience with data processing and distributed computing frameworks such as Apache Spark Expert knowledge in one or more of the following languages - Python, Scala, Java, KotlinnDeep knowledge of data modelling, data access, and data storage techniquesnExperience with databases, both relational as well as NoSQLnStrong understanding of data structures and algorithmsnFamiliarity with Unix systems, common command line tools e.g., grep, awk and source control tools e.g., gitnFamiliarity with Machine Learning and Statistics a plusnExcellent problem-solving and analytical skills.nExperience working in an Agile development environment.
