Substance Misuse Worker
Job Summary
The Substance Misuse Worker will play a vital role in delivering psychosocial and harm reduction interventions to young people, supporting them in overcoming substance misuse. This position involves working closely with individuals to reduce or stop their substance use, minimize associated risks, and promote informed and healthy choices. The successful candidate will be based in the Youth Development Service and collaborate across various projects to extend the reach of substance misuse interventions to young people engaged with our services.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Support:
Provide targeted support to young people who are at risk of substance misuse or already engaged in substance use.
Deliver evidence-based interventions, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interventions.
Offer advice and information to prevent substance misuse-related injuries and risky behaviours.
Community Engagement:
Increase awareness of substance misuse through universal delivery of information, advice, and guidance.
Collaborate with schools, youth centres, the Youth Bus, Health and Well-being Bus, Peer Support Programme, Outreach Team, and Summer University.
Screening and Referrals:
Conduct substance misuse screenings as appropriate.
Make referrals to Insight Enfield Sort It to ensure continuity of care for young people, supporting their treatment within the substance misuse treatment service.
Requirements
Qualifications: A qualification in Youth Work or equivalent to NVQ Level 3 or other relevant professional qualification.
Experience: At least 2 years of experience in delivering substance misuse interventions.
Availability: Flexibility to work during school hours, evenings, weekends, and holiday periods.
Driving License: A valid clean driver’s license is advantageous.
Remuneration
* Day Rate (Mon-Sat): £16 - £20
* Day Rate (Sun): £25 - £30
* Night Rate (Mon-Sat): £24 - £28
* Night Rate (Sun): £33 - £40
