BUK Principal Engineer – Everyday Customer Care Technology
Location: Radbroke
What will you be doing:
• Lead specific engineering outcomes and be accountable for building upon the Colleague platform foundations to meet business demand.
• Own and deliver business outcomes as defined in partnership with product owners. Accountable for backlog quality and achieving definition of ready and done for prioritised work items
• Perform deep, CIO level engagement to identify and curate innovation and improvement opportunities for complex, high scale system deliveries
• Hire and Develop others: Drive organisational shape to achieve Employee Value Proposition outcomes
• Be a figure head for organisational excellence, execution discipline and effectively carrying the brand of Everyday Customer Care Technology Delivery as an ambassador
• Be an active driver of our community and culture, helping develop experts and talent across the Barclays UK.
• Active engagement in change activity and post incident reviews – ensuring rigour and excellence is applied to service improvement
• Work extensively to form leading relationships with BUK PODs and other BUs in the Customer, Digital and Data delivery space, forming and working on joint goals and solutions
Stakeholder Management and Leadership:
• The role holder will work across many domains and be an expert in stakeholder management, relationship building and communication. Areas will include working across specialist areas (security, application, infrastructure, data), technology functions (Group Technology, CSO etc) and CIO domains (business areas)
• The role will partner closely with the BUK transformation function as an engineering thought leader
• Ability to influence and communicate across a senior audience both inside and outside of BUK– able to align teams and the organisation to key goals
• Adaptive leadership – transparent, creative, ability to assimilate information and learn quickly on the job, with a degree of high emotional intelligence to forge lasting and trusting relationships with delivery areas
• Ability to lead change and transformation in a matrix structure – able to work within other teams to create community transformation from within
• Challenges established norms and ways of working when they are wasteful. Be able to navigate complex systems and problems to achieve an outcome, whilst also being able to challenge the status quo on sub optimal processes and decisions
• Ultimately, passionate about making BUK and Barclays better

What we’re looking for:
• Extensive experience of working within financial services across a number of technology roles
• Extensive experience in designing, delivering and fixing large scale software systems
• Expert track record of working collaboratively and developing strong, productive internal and external relationships across a matrixed global organisation
o Application of leading edge leadership and development practices
o Highly organised, diligent and skilled in managing complex projects (strategic and tactical)
Skills that will help you in your role:
• Experience in senior engineering level roles that have had broad applicability across financial services organisations.
• Experience in managing technical engagements to design and deliver positive outcomes in complex systems engineering.
• Conversant in diverse financial services areas
• A thought leader on both contemporary and legacy methodologies and people leadership practices – a keen interest in challenging the status quo, simplification and focusing on where one can win.
o May have a deep specialism in a number of areas (such IVR, AWS Connect, Telephony Platforms etc), but be conversant with all aspects of complex system engineering, covering front end engineering, distributed systems, infrastructure and security.
