We are recruiting an experienced Risk Manager to join our vibrant and inclusive team. The successful applicant will lead on all Risk Management activities and processes required across the organisation.
The Strategic Delivery Team works across Mencap to provide a range of Risk Management, PMO and Project support which underpin our Big Plan, ensuring that Mencap delivers its vision for the UK to be the best place in the world for people with a learning disability to live happy and healthy lives.
You’ll have at least 3 years recent experience of working within a professional risk management environment implementing risk policies and frameworks, and will have actively collaborated with risk owners to support them to identify, analyse, mitigate, manage, and monitor both operational and corporate level risks.  
This position is a full-time role, 37.5 hours per week over Monday – Friday. This is a permanent position. We have a flexible working policy, so your work can be done where suits you. There will be occasional travel (approx. 1 trip per month to our Peterborough Office and approx.1 trip per quarter to either Birmingham or our London Office).
Your main duties as a Risk Manager:
To deliver expert advice and guidance to colleagues on all corporate and departmental risk matters.
To lead on the implementation of Mencap’s new risk management framework and ensure compliance across all departments.
To lead on the reporting of risk to the Exec Team and Trustees
To maintain Mencap’s corporate risk register to ensure it is up to date and actively used and that it is aligned with directorate risk registers.
To actively engage with risk owners to support them to identify, analyse, mitigate, manage, and monitor risks .
To be the custodian of risk data, ensuring one version of the truth, in order to produce accurate risk reports
To embed Mencap’s risk appetite and tolerance, ensuring alignment to target risk scores.
To deliver risk management training and risk workshops for colleagues to empower them to identify, analyse, measure, and prioritise risk across Mencap.
To create the appropriate tooling for risk register data to be held and to develop the necessary dashboards and PowerBI reports to undertake the analysis and reporting.The skills and experiences as a Risk Manager:
At least 3 years recent experience of working within a professional risk management environment, implementing risk management processes in a large and complex organisation.
Experience of developing and implementing risk management policy and frameworks.
Experience of active engagement and collaborative working with risk owners to support them to identify, analyse, mitigate, manage, and monitor risks for both operational and corporate risks.
Extensive experience of generating risk registers using IT systems such as Microsoft Office, Sharepoint, Teams and PowerBI or appropriate risk management software.
