Job Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Main Contractor

As they continue to expand their operations, we are assisting them to secure the services of a talented and driven Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will play a vital role in supporting our commercial team in managing the financial aspects of our projects. Working closely with experienced Quantity Surveyors, you will assist in cost estimation, procurement, contract administration, and project budgeting. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with at least 1 year of post-graduate experience, ideally within a main contracting environment, to further develop their skills and advance their career in the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documents.
Support the procurement process, including obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations.
Assist in contract administration, including preparing contractual correspondence, managing variations, and assessing payment applications.
Collaborate with the project team to monitor and control project costs, ensuring they align with the approved budget.
Conduct regular site visits to assess progress, measure quantities, and assist in the valuation of works completed.
Assist in the preparation and negotiation of final accounts, ensuring accurate and timely settlements.
Support the commercial team in managing subcontractor agreements and resolving any commercial issues that may arise.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation and records.
Stay updated on industry regulations, trends, and best practices related to quantity surveying.
Qualifications and Skills:
A bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 1 year of post-graduate experience in quantity surveying
Sound knowledge of construction measurement techniques
Proficiency in using quantity surveying software and tools
Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and manipulate data accurately.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, ensuring meticulous record-keeping and documentation.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with project teams and stakeholders.
Familiarity with standard construction contracts
