We are looking for an ambitious and experienced construction-orientated project manager to join a growing team and department. Based at the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) at the Daresbury Laboratory Campus, the role will be supporting the delivery of a portfolio of significant construction projects, circa £250m, developing new state-of-the-art-scientific facilities of national and international importance.

Within this role, you will be responsible for managing the delivery of significant and complex construction projects. The post holder will manage the interface between the client and the design team, appointed consultants and main contractors. You will work closely with the Construction Project Programme Manager to lead on major projects through all RIBA stages, ensuring schemes delivered to budget, quality and programme. The project manager will have responsibility for the planning, management, coordination and financial control of multiple projects. You will be required to drive initiatives from the initial concept and design through to handover to operations.

Working within a team, you will be expected to manage schemes typically in the region of £1m-5m, but could include managing a significant portfolio of lower-value works. The nature of STFC’s science dictates that most major projects are likely to be complex, unique and often delivered at pace.

You will hold a construction related degree qualification, or equivalent, and have a good knowledge of the different forms of construction. We are looking for someone with experience in the management of high value project delivery, who will be able to ensure that our programmes run to time, cost and quality. You will have a strong understanding of Health and Safety and a commercial awareness.

*To be considered for this role you will have the following experience, qualifications, skills, knowledge and attributes:*
* Project Management qualifications, or educated to degree level or equivalent in an engineering or construction discipline
* Experience in leading the delivery of a range of projects, from relatively simple projects to complex refurbishment or new-build projects
* Excellent written skills and experience of preparation of project reports and documents
* Experience in managing a multi-disciplinary design team
* Demonstrable knowledge and experience of dealing with current construction legislation, including planning, construction and contract law, health and safety, environmental management and building control.
