Overview:nJAB Recruitment currently have a requirement for a Management System Technical Author on behalf of our Operator client, based in Kingswells. This is a 17-month contract on a PAYE basis.nAs the Management System Technical Author, the successful candidate will be responsible for the governance and quality of our client's Management System, including the production, editing, quality assurance and publishing of controlled management system documents in accordance with the client's Management System work processes and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:nProduce controlled management system documents in line with our client's Management System format, specification and quality standards.nEdit and update existing documents to ensure compliance with our client's Management System format, specification and quality standards.nCarry out plain English / Human Factors editing on TMS documents to ensure that they are clear, understandable and appropriate to the target audience.nCarry out quality control editing on the content of all new and updated documents (including spelling, grammar, consistency, structure, sense and technical look-out) in accordance with our client's Management System processes.nPrepare approved TMS documents for publishing to TMS standards.nPublish approved documents; both online (TMS Bookshelf) and in hard copy (where appropriate).nCommunicate controlled document updates to registered Key Users.nIncorporate and publish approved change requests in accordance with the client's Management System document management procedure.nAssist Document Owners and users throughout the business to ensure compliance with TMS governance processes.nUpdate/reproduce technical drawings as required.nFacilitate controlled document periodic reviews.nMaintain records and audit trail of all changes to controlled documentation in line with the client's Management System processes.

Minimum Requirements:nEducation/Qualifications/Training:nExperience or qualifications in proofreading and copyediting of technical documents.nExperience or qualifications in technical publishing and document management processes.

Experience/Specific Knowledge:nDemonstrable proofreading and copy editing skills.nAdvanced Microsoft Word skills (to desktop publishing standard).nExperience in the use of Microsoft Excel and Visio skills to a high standard.nExperience in the use of Adobe Acrobat Pro to a high standard.nWorking knowledge of electronic document management systems and data retrieval systems.nExperience in the use of SharePoint (preferred).nExperience in the use of Adobe Illustrator (preferred).nExperience in the use of Adobe InDesign (preferred).nStrong background and experience related to technical documentation for the oil and gas industry (preferred).

Additional Skills/Requirements:nA team player with a high degree of self motivation who can work with minimum supervision.nA high-level understanding of governance processes, legislative requirements. and the importance of maintaining audit trails.nExcellent attention to detail with the ability to maintain high standards of accuracy.nStrong multi-tasking skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.nExcellent communication skills at all levels across the business.nExcellent organisational skills.
