Graduate Teaching Assistant

- £425 - £475 PAYE Per Week (£95 - £100 PAYE per day)

At Parker Smith Inclusion, we are working with a lovely and supportive specialist SEN / special needs school in Mitcham, South West London / Surrey, and they are seeking a Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated and ambitious team.
The school supports children and young people with Autism / Autism Spectrum.
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will have the full support of the inspiring senior leader team who firmly believes in the importance of employees' wellbeing and career development.

- Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
- Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Children and Young People with Autism
- Makaton
- Team-Teach, Mapa, or relevant de-escalation techniques
- Mental Health Awareness
- Manual Handling, Hoist, PEG feeding
- British Sign Language
What you can expect as a Graduate Teaching Assistant
- Supporting students with SEN / special educational needs: your role and responsibilities will vary from day to day, and you are expected to use your initiative and respond calmly in challenging situations
- Attending Continued Professional Development and regular training
- Making a huge social impact as a specialist SEN Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant
- Being dedicated and consistent
This role is perfect for aspiring Teachers, Pastoral Workers, Child Psychologists, Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, SALTs, Counsellors, and Social Workers; these positions will offer a relevant and vital experience for your chosen career path.
Graduate Teaching Assistant requirements
- Educated to degree level
- Passion for working with children and young people who require additional support in order to access education and social development
- Must have previous experience (formal or informal/personal) supporting children with SEN, including Autism and ADHD
- A proactive, positive individual who always strives to meet children's learning needs
- Ability to build rapport with children
- Able to assist with personal care (feeding and toileting)
- Able to assist with hydro-therapy swimming
- Fully committed and able to work full-time during term time
