Copello are pleased to be partnered with a major Defence and Aerospace business based close by to High Wycombe recruiting for an Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.
The Infrastructure Engineer will be joining the IT team and play a senior role in implementing and optimising processes and practices to build a solid infrastructure and services that are not only reliable, but scalable, secure, well controlled and documented, adhering to ITIL best practices.
Key Responsibilities;
- Installing, configuring and maintaining infrastructure and systems
- Deploy, optimise and secure Miscrosoft cloud services
- Respond as the technical subject matter expert within the team for the resolution of all technical incident / problems
- Make a significant contribution in delivering continual tangible and measureable benefits and value in terms of improving customer service and satisfaction and operational efficiency, whilst reducing risk and operational costs to minimal levels
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve reliability, stability and efficiency of infrastructure and systems and deliver robust business case proposals to management
- Instigate and orchestrate changes to infrastructure and systems, inline with change control processes
- Facilitate and lead the delivery of technical projects and complex packages successfully, into BAU operations
- Where appropriate, support and mentor junior members of the team, leading by example
- Produce ad maintain IT documentation and ensure adherence to procedures and standards
- Deploy, improve and secure Microsoft cloud services
To be considered, the Infrastructure Engineer will have experience in the following areas;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure deployment, automation, networking, and security concepts in cloud and hybrid environments
- Good knowledge of on-prem server virtualisation any knowledge of SANs/ vSAN technologies would be an advanatge
- Knowledge of Windows Active Directory (Azure AD, Federation, Single Sign On, AD integrated certificate service would be an advantage)
- Understanding of Cyber Security and how to secure systems against Cyber attacks and malicious activity
- Experience of MECM/SCCM to package, deploy and update enterprise endpoints
- Knowledge of Edge-firewals (Palo Alto)
- Experience of on-prem backup solutions, with any cloud back up solutions being an advatange
- Working knowledge of configuring multi-factor authentication for use in on-prem and cloud systems
- An ability to logically and methodically diagnose and troubleshoot software and hardware issues
It would also be highly desirable for candidates to have the following;
- Working knowledge of Azure Cloud and Microsoft 365
- AzureAD, Microsoft identity and access management / conditional access policies
- Powershell
- Server Virtualisation (VMware, Hyper-V) or VDI
- Networking concepts
- Microsoft endpoint configuration manager
- Windows AD including Federation, single sign on, AD Integrated
- MS Azure foundation level cloud certification
- NIST-800 / Cyber essentials plus
- System / infrastructure design
As the Infrastructure Engineer you will balance running and managing the delivery of a number of complex projects whilst also supporting business as usual operations.
This position is based nearby to High Wycombe, and will require 4 days per week in the office.
It would be advantageous for candidates to come from a similar position within the Defence (or aerospace, aviation, nuclear, ex-military or similar) industry.
To be considered, it is an essential requirement for the Infrastructure Engineer to be eligible for UK Security clearance (SC).
