About the role
Role Summary
To provide a high quality, comprehensive handyperson and small works service which is professional, and customer focused for older, vulnerable, and disabled homeowners and tenants living within Ashford, Canterbury, Thanet, Folkestone, Dover & Swale (and at times covering other parts of Kent when required).
To address a variety of small works, house clearances, DIY type jobs, installation of key safes and lifelines as well as providing advice on practical, security and fire risk measures that can be taken to reduce the likelihood of accidents and incidents within the home.
Help to promote independence, wellbeing, inclusion of our client group and to achieve objectives in line with the vision, strategy, and business plan.

Role Specific Responsibilities
Deliver a responsive, professional, customer focused and effective minor household repairs and small works service to customer’s homes to a high standard, ensuring a seamless service is always delivered whilst respecting their privacy and property.
Responsible for leaving the site clean and tidy.
Responsible for supply, stock and use of materials to carry out works and ensure appropriate records are kept as requested.
Accountable for the financial activities with customers for the works performed, including providing all customers with fully completed invoices and maintaining receipted copies together with credit card receipts to reconcile our audited accounts.
At times you will be required to work reactively and at pace with other Town and Country colleagues to support hospital discharge. This may include moving furniture in a customer’s home to create a micro living space, moving beds to a downstairs location, supply and install lifeline equipment, or minor equipment and aids that promote independence.
Act as referring agent between the customer and the agency enabling the agency to sign post the customer onto other services.
Working collaboratively with the Homes Straight Coordinator, you will at times be required to work within the homes of customers who exhibit hoarding behaviours. Assisting with clear and clean type work and where necessary responsible disposal of any waste.
Undertake and pass the accredited Community Equipment Assessor Training course and complete any refresher training required.
Willingness to undertake all training that is deemed necessary for you to carry out your role.
Implement effective safeguarding practice for vulnerable adults and children in accordance with local authority and our policies, guidance and protocol.
Liaise promptly with colleagues, partner agencies and other stakeholders regarding safeguarding, welfare, and risk concerns in accordance with our policy.
Participate in customer reviews, team meetings along with wider company events and meetings, as necessary.
Implement the associations equal opportunities policy as an integral part of all duties and always observe the letter and the spirit of the policy.
Work at times as a lone practitioner being aware of the lone working policy and making full use of equipment provided to staff for the use of lone working.

About You
Education & Qualifications
At least 2 years’ demonstratable experience in delivering general housing repairs and maintenance, including ordering appropriate materials.
Experience of the needs of older, disabled, and vulnerable people who wish to maintain independent living.
Key Skills & Competencies
Good standards of general fitness and must be able to climb stairs, ladders, lifting and carrying etc.
A willingness to work in a flexible manner as the service requires it.
Empathy and understanding of the customer group we work with and support.
Able to drive and hold a full clean driving licence.
Basic tools are required.
