Ensuring Smooth Imports: A Key Role in Supply Chain Efficiency
Do you enjoy a fast-paced environment where accuracy and efficiency are paramount?
The Imports & Duty Team plays a vital role in ensuring the seamless import of goods. They work diligently to clear goods promptly and compliantly, keeping production on track and avoiding delays. They are looking for an Imports Coordinator, on a 6-month contract.
What you'll be doing:
Become an import pro: You'll assist in managing import duties and taxes, ensuring compliance with European Community regulations.
Master the Ricardo System: Operate the Ricardo Duty Management System, following all HMRC requirements.
Streamline Import Processes: Create and manage import instructions for agents, ensuring they adhere to HMRC guidelines.
Meet Deadlines with Precision: Complete and submit import entries by due dates, upholding HMRC regulations and supporting team KPIs.
Maintain Simplified Customs Procedures: Ensure all entries comply with Simplified Customs Declaration Procedures (SCDP).
Manage Deferment Accounts: Authorise and verify customs clearance agencies' use of deferment account, allocating costs internally.
Compliance Champion: Support adherence to Trade Compliance practices.
Data Guardian: Maintain the Imports Master Log for accurate recordkeeping, facilitating audits and trade compliance.
Continuous Improvement Advocate: Proactively review processes to maximise efficiency and duty recovery using LEAN principles.
Communication Bridge: Liaise with suppliers, customers, shipping lines, and haulers regarding goods movement.
Insurance Specialist: Process and finalise insurance claims under the Maritime Insurance Policy (if applicable).
Internal & External Support: Provide basic guidance on HMRC customs requirements to both internal and external customers.Who you are:
A highly organised individual who thrives on meeting tight deadlines.
A detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of UK import formalities.
A proficient user of Microsoft Office with potential experience in ERP systems like SAP.
A clear communicator with the ability to connect with overseas suppliers, external agencies, and internal contacts.
A problem-solver with analytical skills who can identify and recommend solutions.Bonus points for:
Experience with Tableau analytics tools.
Understanding of LEAN principles.
Previous experience using a Duty Management System.

Job Title - Imports Coordinator
Location - Irlam, Manchester
Type - 6 Month Contract
Hours - Mon-Fri - Hybrid - Alternates from 2 days on site one week and 3 days on site the following
Core hours 08:00-16:00 but flexible on start and finish times.
Salary - £15.71 per hour, PAYE.
