As the Senior Project Manager & Team Lead at Volution Group plc, you will play a pivotal role in managing and delivering innovative HVAC engineering projects. Operating in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, you will ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.


This role will see you overseeing multiple projects, as well as leading and developing a talented Project Management team, across three technical divisions in the UK.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Project Delivery: Plan, monitor, and deliver projects effectively, taking proactive steps to resolve issues, monitor progress, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Cost Management: Oversee and manage Bill of Materials (BOM) and project costs, ensuring accurate tracking, timely updates, and alignment with project specifications, timelines, and budget.
  • Full Project Lifecycle Management: Manage projects from initiation through definition, execution, and closure, ensuring all project goals are achieved, and post-project reviews are conducted.
  • Time, Cost & Quality Control: Implement and maintain controls to ensure projects meet deadlines, budget constraints, and quality standards, aligning with technical processes.
  • Team Management: Lead, manage, and facilitate the performance of project teams, ensuring the right resources are allocated and optimised throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work Breakdown & Resource Planning: Develop Work Breakdown Structures and ensure that the necessary resources and skills are identified and allocated to project tasks.
  • Risk & Stakeholder Management: Identify and manage risks and issues that may affect the projects' successful outcomes, proactively mitigating any potential disruptions. Ensure clear communication with stakeholders at all stages of the project.
  • Collaborating with Stakeholders: Work closely with stakeholders to ensure clear communication and alignment on project objectives, ensuring that their needs and expectations are met.


Skills, Knowledge & Personal Qualities

  • Project Management Expertise: 10 years of relevant experience and knowledge of project management methodologies such as APM, PMI, with experience in planning, monitoring, and controlling projects effectively.
  • Leadership Accreditation: Ideally holds an accredited leadership qualification (e.g., CMI, ILM) to a recognised national level.
  • Project Management Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP), Six Sigma (Green Belt/Black Belt), APM PMQ or Agile methodologies (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster or PMI-ACP). These certifications demonstrate a strong foundation in project management and process optimisation, key to ensuring the successful delivery of complex projects
  • Team Leadership: Proven experience in managing and developing project managers.
  • Manufacturing experience : An understanding of production processes and their influence on project execution.
  • Technical Documentation: Ability to write detailed and comprehensive technical design documentation to guide and support project execution.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing full project documentation and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Proven experience managing project budgets and resources, with a good understanding of cost control. Knowledge of MRP systems is a distinct advantage.
  • Conflict Management & Negotiation: Skilled in negotiation and resolving conflicts, with the ability to bring stakeholders together to reach an agreed outcome.
  • Methodology Familiarity: Knowledge of Agile methodologies or Six Sigma practices is beneficial but not essential.
  • Effective Time Management: Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and maintain accuracy under pressure.
  • Proactive & Solution-Oriented: A focus on continuous improvement, with a knack for solving problems and improving operational efficiency.
  • Adaptability: Able to remain focused and aligned with project goals despite changing demands, adapting to new challenges as they arise.
  • Willingness to Travel: Ability to travel within the UK to collaborate with different teams and stakeholders as required.
