Description
We are recruiting a Youth Worker for a public sector client in East London. The youth worker will work directly with young people to support their personal and social development, improve their emotional well-being and resilience, reduce barriers to accessing positive life choices, learning, and employment, and prevent escalation to specialist services.
Responsibility
To promote and develop young people's active involvement in service design and evaluation and ensure they have a voice and influence, actively seek their views, and support their decision-making.
Qualification – Essential
* GCSE Grade A-C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
* A recognised JNC Youth Work Qualification (NVQ 2 or equivalent.
* Advanced –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, CRM, and Social Media.
Essential - Skills, Abilities & Experience
* A knowledge and commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
* Knowledge of the issues which impact young people and the current problems faced in a multi-cultural area.
* Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure.
* Knowledge of local strategies to improve the outcomes for children, young people and families.
* Ability to obtain a youth work qualification and training for development in the post within six months.
* Experience working in an inner urban area with complex social needs and disadvantages.
* Knowledge of developing targeted youth work which meets the needs of vulnerable young people.
* Ability to establish effective working relationships with partners, colleagues and young people.
* Ability to undertake administrative tasks as required, including record keeping, case studies, and deadlines.
* Ability to develop and use innovative youth work approaches that meet vulnerable young people's needs.
* Ability to use e-mail and management information database.
* Ability to raise young people's aspirations and self-expectations and promote a positive image of young people.
* Ability to listen effectively and give clear feedback
* Ability to Involve young people in service design, delivery, and feedback
* Ability to work evenings, weekends, and school holidays in line with business needs, with notice.
Essential Compliance Requirements
* Five Years of References.
* A DBS check is mandatory for the role
* A pre-engagement screening is compulsory for this role.
