The

Asset Integrity Engineer

will lead the provision of electrical engineering support to operational projects in Ocean Winds’ portfolio, focusing initially on the Moray West Offshore Wind Farm.

As an Electrical Engineer, you’ll be responsible for providing technical knowledge required to manage the integrity of operational assets within your area of expertise, where failure would have a major impact on safety, environmental, and commercial operation of the business. You’ll be responsible for providing Safety from the System as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) under Operational Safety Rules up to 66kV as a minimum. You’ll also be involved in all electrical aspects of Offshore Windfarm operations from turbine to grid connection.

Core Main Accountabilities:

Support the Asset Integrity Lead in defining and implementing an Asset Integrity Management Strategy.nQualified Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to 66kV as a minimum with Sanction for Test preferred, or demonstration of working towards qualification.nEnsure proactive monitoring of asset performance across wind farm electrical balance of plant and transmission assets.nLiaise with and provide technical support to the site-based O&M team, including supporting warranty management.nUtilise data analysis tools to monitor and assess asset behaviour, performing detailed analysis of data from systems including cable temperature monitoring and HV electrical SCADA systems.nDevelop and implement monitoring measures to ensure continued compliance of the asset with regulatory requirements such as those associated with the Grid Code.nUndertake root cause analysis of defects and propose remedial actions.nReview and approve any changes to scheduled maintenance plans.nAction and/or prepare processes and procedures to support O&MnProvide technical support to commercial asset management activities where required, such as in respect to provision of ancillary services.nWorking with procurement, engage specialist technical consultancy support where required, including preparing technical specifications and undertaking or coordinating technical assessment of proposals.nAct as a technical interface with the appointed OFTO where required.nProvide high quality reporting to internal and external stakeholders as required.nEnsure recommendations for improvement are fed into company knowledge management and lessons learned processes.

Required Academic and Professional Experience:

A degree in Electrical Engineering is required.nA minimum of 3 years’ experience within the energy sector is required.nExperience within the offshore wind sector is desirable.nExperience in an asset integrity/operational engineering support role is desirable.nChartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or similar professional accreditation) is desirable.nRequired Knowledge and Competencies:nDemonstrable knowledge in all of the following areas is required:nHigh voltage electrical asset operation and maintenance.nStandards associated with electrical system design of grid connected power projects, including knowledge of key aspects of the UK regulatory regime such as the Grid Code and SQSS.nUse of diagnostic tools and data manipulation programs (e.g. MATLAB, SCADA, MySQL, C++, Tableau, etc.).nRoot cause analysis.nFull GWO offshore training is required for this position.nKnowledge of the following areas is desirable:nWind farm and transmission asset design and construction processes, including associated standards and best practice.nWind farm performance management and optimisation.nTechnical risk analysis.nTypical forms of construction contract and associated warranty provisions.nTypical forms of service contract.nThe UK offshore transmission regime.nThe CDM (Construction Design and Management) Regulations, including a demonstrable understanding of health, safety and environmental best practice.

Languages:

The project has an international team of employees and the working language is English. Candidates need to be fluent in English both spoken and written. Proficiency in other languages will be valued.

Location:

Location in Edinburgh or Buckie, but travel to O&M facilities in the north-east of Scotland and offshore sites, as well as supplier's facilities and offices, may be required.
