As a core member of the Linxon UK Engineering Team and will contribute towards the effective operation of projects and design protection and Control System.
What will you do?
Design of secondary systems, control, and protection up to 400kV to meet contract requirements.nEnable effective project delivery by preparation and verification of:nDesign Intent Documents (DID).nTech Specs / RFQs for Plant and P&C equipment.nSecondary designs including SLD, KLD, AC & DC distribution systems, battery and battery chargers sizing, voltage drop, cable sizing, signal lists, setting calculation, interface lists, cable block diagrams, multicore & fiber optic cable schedules, and cables core sheets, etc.nSpecifying CTs & VTs in terms of electrical characteristics and physical size.nApproving supplier designs for a wide range of equipment and packages, including data sheets, loads consumption, scheme drawings, circuit diagrams, wiring diagrams, etc., and incorporating vendor information into the design.nSupport PreFAT / FAT and commissioning activities.nProvide technical support for tendering, working within defined budgetary objectives, and assisting in preparing proposals and presentations for engineering projects by creating Work Breakdown Structures, providing bills of materials, estimated engineering & drafting hours, and other necessary details.nList, report and address all noted deviations to the engineering specifications, plan and suggest corrective actions. Clarifying potential issues or providing solutions to correct engineering errors in cooperation with the engineering manager.nOffer a flexible approach to work tasks and be prepared to work additional hours when necessary to ensure the successful delivery of the project.nTo mentor other team members as required.nParticipate in design and hazard review meetings and ensuring design risk assessments/HAZID’s are in place for all design solutions and residual risks are passed on to the H&S file. Positively influence design and construction safety performance and aims for zero accidents.nCoordinating with the client, project management, primary and civil engineering teams, as well as other interfaces, to ensure the delivery of high-quality technical outputs within the agreed delivery timescales and budget.
Experienced Required:nMinimum qualification of a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical or electronics engineering, with a minimum 10 years of experience in transmission and distribution (ranging from 11kV to 400kV).nExperience as a Contractor Design Approval Engineer (CDAE) / Lead Contractor Design Approval Engineer (LCDAE), as defined by National Grid's NG/ET/SR188 procedure will be an advantage.nMember of the IET or equivalent Professional Body; Chartered status (through IET) status or working towards is desirable.nProficiency in generating and comprehensive understanding of engineering design, particularly in secondary engineering for GIS and AIS substationsnUnderstanding / Knowledge of Distribution Network Operator / National Grid etc. standards and drawing practices.nGood knowledge in communication protocols used in automation systems like IEC101, IEC104, IEC61850, security standards (IEC 62443, ISO 27019), technologies and best practices for substation automation engineering ideally with multiple vendors.nDemonstrable HSQE management knowledge including CDM requirements is desirable.nGood teamwork, Analytical and communication skills.nCapable of working to tight time scales.nWorking knowledge of Windows, MS Office, Amtech & Autocad.nUnderstanding of electronic records management systems.nA full team player with ability to work within a multi-national, multi-cultural team.nStrive for continuous improvement in implementation standards and costs.
