Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as the Head of Solar and Energy Storage Development. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the strategic development and execution of our solar and energy storage projects throughout the UK. You will oversee the entire project lifecycle from inception to completion, driving growth, profitability, and sustainability while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for the expansion of solar and energy storage development projects in alignment with company objectives and market trends.
  2. Project Development: Lead the identification, evaluation, and acquisition of new project opportunities, including site selection, feasibility studies, permitting, and interconnection processes.
  3. Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with landowners, government agencies, local communities, utilities, and other key stakeholders to facilitate project development and overcome challenges.
  4. Financial Analysis: Conduct comprehensive financial analysis and modeling to assess project viability, optimize project economics, secure project financing, and maximize returns on investment.
  5. Team Leadership: Provide strong leadership and guidance to a multidisciplinary team of project managers, engineers, analysts, and consultants, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  6. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, permits, codes, standards, and environmental requirements throughout the project lifecycle, working closely with legal and regulatory affairs teams.
  7. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate project risks, uncertainties, and constraints, developing contingency plans and mitigation strategies to safeguard project success and mitigate potential liabilities.
  8. Technology Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, market trends, and industry developments in solar and energy storage, evaluating their potential impact on project development strategies and competitive positioning.
  9. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare regular progress reports, presentations, and documentation for internal stakeholders, senior management, investors, and regulatory agencies, highlighting key milestones, achievements, and challenges.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or related field.
  • Proven track record of at least 7-10 years of experience in solar and energy storage project development, including a successful track record of delivering utility-scale projects in the UK market.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives on time and within budget.
  • Excellent analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK energy market dynamics, regulatory frameworks, policies, and incentive programs related to solar and energy storage.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, LEED, CFA) and familiarity with project management tools and software are a plus.
