Central is currently recruiting for a Progression Coach, to work in the Southwark area. The service provides floating support across the borough to young people to support them while homeless, at risk of homelessness or in their own tenancies.
The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working across Monday - Friday, 9AM - 5PM. Some flexibility is required to occasionally work outside of these hours. Temporary cover is required for approximately 2 months.
The pay rate for this role is £13.70 per hour, with £1.65 holiday pay, totalling £15.35 per hour.
Please note; this role involves meeting with service users in the community and their homes across Southwark and working from the Head office (Southwark). There is flexibility with working from home up to 2 days per week (except Wednesday's which you're required to be in the office).
In this position, you will be expected to;
* Hold a caseload of up to 15 - 16 clients and conduct regular key working sessions, providing one to one support.
* Complete comprehensive and ongoing risk and needs assessments.
* Interview and assess clients in order to help to find suitable, safe and settled accommodation.
* Liaise with accommodation providers to seek suitable housing option for clients, and to take them through the referral process, including accompanying clients to housing interviews and resettlement work.
* Where clients have moved in to accommodation, provide support through a programme of regular visits.
* Help service users to apply for benefits, complete relevant application forms, train to learn budgeting skills and managing money, including support to prioritise and pay bills and rent.
* Liaise with professional including social workers, the Leaving Care Team, local organisations, statutory services and support agencies to gain the best possible outcomes
* Actively support young people to stay in or enter suitable education, employment and training
* Support young people to access and liaise with health services, including mental health services, drug and alcohol support services and counselling referrals.
* Deal with clients who need help or advice, either by phone or on a drop-in basis.
* Establish and build links with housing providers in order to maximise the alternatives available to young people and work closely with Consortium partners.
* Co-ordinate and ensure a smooth transition when supported or alternative accommodation has been found.

To apply for this role candidates must have;
* Experience of working with young people who are categorized as high risk or high needs, who have complex needs including mental health, substance misuse, domestic violence and offending behaviour
* Experience working in a floating support environment
* Experience holding a caseload, conducting support plans, risk assessments and needs assessments
* Experience of helping Young People with setting up benefits and maintaining their accommodation
* Knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice system and benefits system
* Knowledge of supported accommodation and other services vital to successful support while Young People are homeless or are in need of pre-tenancy support.
* A clear understanding of safeguarding requirements and professional boundaries when working with Young people.
* The ability to use IT to a level which will enable high quality reporting to be carried out, including the ability to use data capture systems including running queries and reports.

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
* Current valid right to work in the UK
* Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
* A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £50)
* Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
