Directly Manages: Ganger, General Operative, Plant Operative, Sub Contractors and Trainee Engineers as required.
Hours: Full-time position with potential for overtime based on project demands
Salary: £50k - £60k DOE
 
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail oriented Setting Out Engineer to join our client’s team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the accurate and precise setting out of construction works and providing technical guidance on the construction site. This role requires a keen understanding of civil engineering principles, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
 
Key Responsibilities
Accurately establish site boundaries, reference points, and levels to guide construction activities.
Provide technical guidance and support to the site team, ensuring compliance with construction plans and specifications.
Monitor the quality of construction work to ensure it meets project standards and specifications.
Maintain detailed records of all setting out and surveying activities, including drawings, calculations, and reports.
Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other engineers to ensure seamless project execution.
Ensure that all setting out activities are conducted in accordance with health and safety regulations and company policies. 
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in setting out engineering, surveying, or a related role in the construction industry.
Proficiency with surveying instruments and software (e.g., total stations, GPS, AutoCAD).
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently.
Must have Sub Station experience with CAT 1-3.

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to interpret data and make informed decisions.
Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work environments. 
Working Conditions
Primarily on construction sites, with exposure to varying weather conditions.
May require travel to different project sites.
