The Role:

Based in their offices in central England, only 30 mins from Birmingham or an hour out of Manchester, as System Studies Engineer, you will consult closely with clients to deliver successful solution for the clients desired outcomes. The projects you will work on, are interesting and unique and will enable you to bring your technical skills, solution-focused approach and help deliver successful outcomes to your clients.


Role Responsibilities:

  • Agree the methodology and model and perform studies.
  • Produce detailed reports for the studies and initially present your findings to the internal team of consulting engineers to share content and troubleshoot if required.
  • Present reports to your clients and encourage a Q & A session to talk through the report.
  • Be actively involved in new development in HVDC technologies i.e. delivering new analysis techniques and system study tools to drive high level system study solutions.


Key Technical Areas that will be worked across:

  • Power System Studies -Steady State including LoadFlow, Short Circuit, Arc Flash OR
  • Power System Studies - Dynamics RMS including Transient Stability, Fundamental Frequency, Control Interaction and RMS modelling of Control Systems
  • Harmonic Studies - performance, stability, filter design, site measurements etc.
  • Electromagnetic Compatibility Studies - radio frequency interference, substation zoning.
  • Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) Studies - overvoltage, recovery voltage, lightning.


Essential Qualifications and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's/Master Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering.
  • Candidates holding a PhD would be considered with high regard.
  • 3-5 years post graduate experience working in electrical engineering role in relatable industries.
  • Experience of using DigSILENT, PSS®E, PS CAD and other relatable software packages including Power Factory, MATLAB, PSCAD, FORTRAN, PYTHON, EXCEL

The roles are located at our clients impressive offices. You will be required to attend the office for at least 2 days per week so will need to be in commuting distance to their location. The option to work remotely for the remaining days are available or you can choose to be office based full-time.
