Disrepair Surveyor

3 months contract with A Local Authority
Job Summary:
·         To provide a comprehensive specialised technical service to ensure that potential legal disrepair, statutory nuisance, structural repairs, and insurance claims against Lewisham Council are dealt with professionally and as expeditiously as possible.
·         To manage and monitor works in relation with legal disrepair cases, structural issues, and insurance schemes.
·         To provide technical and surveying support to the wider departmental teams.
Key Duties/Accountabilities:
·         Negotiate with tenants and their representatives' access arrangements, to carry out appropriate inspections and produce detailed reports with photographic evidence, a Scott schedule/ specification of work itemised from the schedule of rates or using composite values.
·         Prepare estimates, feasibility studies, plans, sketches, drawings, and photographs as may be necessary.                                                                                                                                                                                                        
·         To carry out pre/post inspections to identify repairs/defects and potential improvements.
·         To prepare specifications and estimates as when required.
·         To investigate, monitor and manage works in relation to disrepair issues, structural repairs, and insurance works.
·         Have a working knowledge of relevant legislation and legal documentation and court procedure, ensure that relevant legislation is adhered to in respect of disrepair, and keep abreast of developments with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Essential Experience Required:
·         Experience of the diverse issues affecting poor health in social housing.
·         Experience of dealing with potentially difficult people in potentially difficult situations.
·         Experience of complex surveying and building maintenance issues.
·         Experience in preparing specifications and reports on repair issues.
Essential Qualifications Required:
·         Degree / HNC and /or membership of a recognized professional body or equivalent qualification and experience in legal disrepair.
