Harry’s Rainbow is an award-winning child bereavement charity dedicated to supporting children and families in Milton Keynes and surrounding areas for over 11 years. We are recognized for our unique, child-centric approach to providing pastoral, practical, and varied services to children and young people grieving the loss of a parent or sibling. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an energetic and compassionate individual to join our dedicated team.
The Role:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Family Liaison Officer to focus on our youth and young adult provision (ages 11-25). You will work alongside our existing Family Liaison Officer for younger age groups and our Beneficiary Lead, ensuring that bereaved young people and their families receive the support they need.
Key Responsibilities:
* Main Point of Contact: Serve as the primary contact for enquiries from bereaved families, schools, social services, mental health services, and other professionals.
* Family Registration: Manage the registration process from initial enquiry to welcoming families into support groups.
* Support Groups: Plan, risk assess, and lead creative activities for support groups. Run monthly groups and lead volunteers.
* Event Planning: Organize and manage events, including summer and Christmas trips and parties.
* Communication: Regularly communicate with families to identify and address additional support needs.
* Collaboration: Work closely with our retreat lead for booking and maintaining our caravan retreat.
* Safeguarding: Ensure the wellbeing of children, young people, and vulnerable adults in our care.
* Resource Management: Ensure memory boxes, books, and other resources are readily available and replenished as needed.
* Training and Development: Attend mandatory and relevant training sessions, including safeguarding training.

Qualifications & Experience:
* Minimum level 4 qualification in health, education, social care, counseling, or a similar field
* Relevant experience in mental health, social care, education, counseling, or working with children, young people, adults, and families
* Bereavement experience or training
Additional Information:
We are committed to safeguarding and safer recruitment practices. This role requires an enhanced DBS check. Applicants must complete an application form and provide two referees. There is a six-month probation period during which all training, including safeguarding, must be completed.
