Bolton Associates are recruiting for a growing MGU who now have a vacancy for an experienced and Qualified GI Actuary to join an international team. This role can be very flexible in terms of hybrid working and, if required, can be a largely from home based role.
The successful candidate will support the firm’s business units, central functions, and external partners in the execution of their actuarial tasks and projects. This is an extremely commercial role, partnering closely with underwriting cells and leading the profitability analyses, identifying trends and potential issues and reporting/presenting findings to senior management and other stakeholders throughout the business.
This is a truly value add reserving focused role, with no regulatory obligations at all. You will be a qualified Actuary with around 5 to 8 years of experience gained from a Specialty (or commercial at the least) underwriter.
Responsibilities Include:
- Perform profitability analyses using traditional reserving methods.
- Create ad hoc reports, analyses, and data sets.
- Guide the Development & Operations team as well as Claims Analytic Lead.
- Provide timely communication and support to insurance partners and their actuarial staff.
- Utilize compelling business arguments to generate change in actuarial issues.
- Produce scheduled and ad hoc actuarial analyses of underwriting performance, projection and profitability.
- Be responsible for strategic analysis and predictive modelling.
- Manage product and tool strategy and development.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or finance.
- At least 5 years of industry experience.
- Knowledge of specialty, commercial, and reinsurance markets.
- Proficient with data manipulation tools such as SQL, Alteryx, MSOffice and PowerBI.
- FIA qualified (or equivalent)
