Peace Recruitment’s client are an established project management, building surveying and CDM consultancy firm who are expanding due to multiple project wins. They are currently looking for an experienced Principal Designer to join them. They are open in terms of level of person they bring in and are open to applications from people with 2 years experience right up to Senior/Associate level.
This dynamic and rapidly growing project management and building surveying firm are dedicated to delivering high-quality projects across a wide variety of sectors. They currently have multiple live projects which have come to them through various different frameworks and encompass everything from smaller projects, to high quality, bespoke fit outs, to new build projects ranging from £10m-£100m in value.

Job description:
Due to recent project wins they are on the lookout for a highly skilled and experienced Principal Designer/CDMC to oversee/assist with a number of their projects through the health and safety design process. You will be working alongside their current CDM lead who has been an expert in the industry for a number of years. They are looking for someone who has a proven track record of successfully working on large scale projects, overseeing/working through the process from inception to completion and ensuring the projects are completed safely, on time and within budget.
Responsibilities:
* Liaise with clients: Ensure that clients are aware of their duties under the CDM2015 regulations
* Communicate with designers and contractors: Facilitate communication among all parties involved in the design process to ensure health and safety considerations are integrated.
* Review designs: Ensure that health and safety risks are considered during the design phase
* Assess design impact: Evaluate how design decisions might affect construction workers and end users.
* Identify and eliminate risks: Propose alternative design solutions to mitigate risks.
* Develop and maintain the pre-construction information: Compile and provide relevant information to designers and contractors to assist in planning for safe construction.
* Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments and ensure that designers address these risks.
Requirements:
* This client is open to considering people from either an architecture or a building surveying background, the key thing is that you have had an element of experience working in the CDM field previously.
* Membership of a relevant professional body i.e ARB, CIAT, RICS would be advantageous.
* Comprehensive understanding of the CDM2015 regulations.
* Previous roles that involved risk assessment and management, safety audits and compliance with health and safety legislation.
* Relevant certifications or training in CDM regulations and health and safety (e.g NEBOSH etc)
* Proven track record of working on various construction projects, particularly during the design and planning stages.
* Demonstrated experience in managing health and safety in construction projects.
