Digital Communications Officer
Location: London
Salary: £28,000 per annum
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled digital content creator with excellent communication and implementation skills. The successful candidate will use their digital expertise to enhance digital communications at The Forward Trust, with the support of the Digital and Social Media Assistant, working to the Digital Communications Manager, as part of the wider Communications Team.
This role is remote-based with infrequent travel required to attend events in England, visit services and develop content for digital communications, this sometimes includes weekend working (infrequently).
What you will be doing?
This role will allow the right candidate the opportunity to develop their skills and training (including specialist external training, where necessary) will be provided.
Website content management and updating – ensuring the accuracy of service information pages, identifying and presenting powerful case studies and drafting original news articles.
Social media management – contributing towards the regular scheduled activity for Forward’s social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and X), including our campaign channels for Taking Action on Addiction (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and X), and More Than My Past (Facebook and X), among oversight of local social media channels at service level. This also includes community engagement to ensure Forward is engaging with followers and building advocacy.
Content creation – photography and videography at events for quick, immediate use on social media. This also includes contributing to the ongoing social media content calendars, working with internal representative from frontline services or central services to make new content to celebrate and showcase their work.
Providing consultancy to colleagues around best practice and technical application of digital communications – including social media analytics, Google Analytics and other data dashboards to evaluate impact and outcomes. This also includes advising on best practice and likely outcomes relating to digital paid-advertising ideas.
Project management – delivery of key strategic works including playing a key role in the planned Forward website estate review – encompassing six websites – working with the Digital Communications Manager to execute this on time and to budget.
Internal representation at strategic meetings – ensuring that the Digital Communications Team, along with the wider Fundraising and Communications directorate – is accountable at strategic development and planning meetings, using your knowledge/experience of supporting ideas into possible end products (videos, case studies or service developments).

We are looking for someone that thrives in a fast-paced communications environment, with the ability to quickly convert ideas and suggestions into compelling content that can be used across Forward’s social media, website and newsletter communication channels.
With strong technical, project management and creative skills, the right candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communications skills and a keen eye for detail. You will have a creative flair and the ability to deliver complex messages in a variety of engaging ways. Design skills to an advanced level would also be a welcome advantage.
