Teaching Assistant
Wandsworth Sensory Support Service is a provider of education for children and young people who are deaf, blind or have multiple sensory impairments. This is an exciting opportunity to join our highly motivated and skilled team as a Teaching Assistant within the Willow Hearing Support Centre based at Sellincourt Primary School in Tooting. The Willow currently has twelve primary aged deaf children who follow a mainstream curriculum with added specialist support from the Hearing Support Centre. Children at the Willow all use verbal and written English and benefit from either using hearing aids or cochlear implants, as well as other supportive technology.
You will be working across all age ranges, however, we will consider preference and expertise for a particular key stage; please discuss this at interview. The children at Willow require academic support, social input and support with audiology and access to the curriculum. Full and continuous training and support; as well as a comprehensive induction package will be provided from our on-site team.
For success in this role you would be a patient, calm and caring individual, who is able to demonstrate a high level of awareness when caring for children. The postholder will also need to be able to adapt to a busy and ever-changing environment as well as engage with the multi-disciplinary team involved in the student's wider care provision. As part of the Willow team, the postholder will be expected to have a flexible approach and will be deployed by the Teacher in Charge to work with children across the school.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has high expectations, is passionate about transforming young people's lives and has a desire to develop their career by working with children and young people with sensory needs.
The Wandsworth Sensory Support Service is a very special place to work and staff wellbeing and career progression are very important to us. In addition to the benefits listed below, as part of working for Richmond and Wandsworth, you will be provided with tailored in-house and external training appropriate to your needs and interests.
Further Information: If you would like further information on this post, please contact Hannah Campion from Wandsworth Sensory Support Service on
Closing Date: 26th Sept
Shortlisting Date: 27th Sept
