Product Owner (Payroll)

Our payroll product team are seeking a Product Owner (Level 4) to join them to shape the development of our next generation education payroll solution, Staffology as part of our HCM portfolio.
You will be responsible for creating clear and concise customer and outcome-led requirements and own the translation of the product vision to development deliverables to ensure our objectives and key results are fully met.
To be successful in this role, you must be able to demonstrate experience in working closely with technical resource whilst solution and delivery are in motion. You will be responsible for ensuring the technical delivery meets the business need and for updating and communicating with business stakeholders. You will need to become a specialist in payroll software, working with different areas of the business to identify requirements, scope, benefits, and desired outcomes for a specific area of change.
Responsibilities
* Transform the high-level vision for the product into detailed requirements, continuously engaging stakeholders from across the business
* Be the voice of the customer through the development process
* Share a clear vision and goal at the beginning of every release and sprint, drive and maintain this throughout delivery
* Formation and delivery of a clear backlog, with prioritised feature lists sequenced for efficient delivery
* Ensure product is compliant with HMRC, TPR, TPS and MCR processes and legislative requirements
* To complete the development required to enable the retirement of desktop products onto the platform in line with desktop migrations
* Ensure Bugs, Stories, Features and EPIC are accurately and sufficiently documented via ADO to allow developers to quickly pick up prioritised work via sprints
* To understand the market and competitors and seek out enhancements to give the payroll solution a competitive advantage
* Create intuitive and engaging solutions, drive continuous improvement, flag innovation or changes that impact customer experience and generally push to ensure we are the best we can be in product delivery
Knowledge and Experience
Your background should include product ownership, delivery or support within payroll. The ability to work within a wider product team to ensure payroll product is compliant and fits in with the wider business strategy.
* Experience as product owner, with background in delivering engaging online software or
* Prior experience within an education payroll support or payroll service delivery
* Demonstrate a deep domain knowledge of education payroll operational processes and legislation
* Experience of using or developing education payroll software solutions
* Demonstrable experience of engaging with and putting the customer first
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Disciplined management ability: caring about process, quality, setting and managing expectations
