The successful candidate will be fundamental in Supporting the working time and duties of the principal and members of the SLT. Working with the Director of Governance to support liaison with college governors and assisting the ongoing and daily work of the Quality and Apprenticeship department.

They will build strong, positive working relationships with a supportive and collaborative team, and professional services who share the common goal of providing a meaningful educational experience.

They will have excellent organisational and time-management skills and be able to prioritise work effectively to meet objectives and deadlines. They will be comfortable with and proactively adapt to rapid changes in educational trends within the sector. They will be able to plan and prioritise their own schedule of work to achieve objectives, have strong IT skills, and be happy to be part of a close-knit team with shared objectives.

Job overview

The successful candidate will manage and maintain diaries for the Principal and Senior Leadership Team And deal with correspondence and visitors. They will prepare agendas for meetings and take notes where required. There will be a requirement to arrange and manage external meetings, update college policies and procedures and undertake general administrative support and any specific duties as directed by the Principal and Chief Executive whilst demonstrating competence and keeping pace with advances in Information Technology and its applications in a business support environment.

There is a requirement to be highly responsive to employer enquiries as part of the Apprenticeship function – dealing with routine enquiries from various stakeholders and following up responses. Supporting employers in understanding and using the Apprenticeship Recruitment Services. To develop a sound understanding of the College’s CRM system and support the Apprenticeship function in organising and running outreach events.

In supporting the Quality function, the candidate must process and update qualification data to and from the Awarding Organisation portals. Assist with the approval and re-approval process, including monitoring the approvals cycle and compiling necessary documentation. To support the Head of Faculty with External Verification visits. Maintain a comprehensive and accurate record-keeping system for individual awarding processes and maintain data protection and confidentiality while handling sensitive information.

What we're looking for Qualifications

Level 3 or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline Higher-level qualifications in a relevant discipline

Experience

Experience of working in a fast paced, demanding business environment Delivery of work-based training in work place or College environment

Experience and competence in servicing senior level meetings including agenda preparation, collation of papers and note taking

Experience of providing PA support

Experience in a successful further education environment

Experience of lean processes; continuous business improvement techniques

Knowledge & Skills

Strong diary management skills Good knowledge of health and safety at work in an educational and vocational environment

Ability to touch type at high speed Full clean driving licence

Ability to be proactive, self-motivated and work on own initiative Working on marketing and customer related tasks

Strong ability to condense and present information to maximise its usefulness

Problem solver; able to spot issues and create solutions

Ability to draft high quality documents from scratch including letters, reports and briefings from existing or researched information

  • Ability to travel between Kendal College sites as necessary. A driving license and vehicle business insurance are required
  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) at grade 4/C or above
