Role Overview
We are looking for a dedicated Residential Support Worker to join the team at a well-established further education college in Northamptonshire. This role is perfect for someone who is committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion. You will play a key role in supporting and supervising students, ensuring their safety and well-being during unsocial hours.
Join a dedicated, skilled staff team and an aspirational student body in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside. The college spans over 450 hectares of beautiful rural land, providing a unique and enriching environment for both students and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Support and supervise students during evenings and weekends.
Administer and supervise a programme of social and sporting activities.
Patrol the college campus and accommodation buildings, collaborating with College Security.
Maintain acceptable standards of student behaviour outside the normal timetabled day.
Mediate student disputes and ensure good order and behaviour within Halls of Residence.
Enforce college policies on substance abuse, bullying, and anti-social behaviour.
Contribute to evening and weekend enrichment activities, including offsite trips.
Perform warden duties at major social events.
Ensure compliance with Fire and Health & Safety procedures.
Take emergency action in case of fire alarms or breakdowns in services.
Inspect communal areas and report damages.
Assist in organising welcome and induction events for new students.
Undergo and maintain training as a designated first-aider and fire marshal.
Liaise with the wider Student Support and Warden team.
Promote and adhere to the college's Safeguarding and Health & Safety policies.
Manage student conduct according to college policies.
What do you need?
Experience in dealing with vulnerable adults and/or young people.
Ability to work unsocial hours and remain awake throughout the night.
Full UK Driving Licence (desirable).
Experience in education or a similar environment (desirable).
Strong administrative and interpersonal communication skills.
Satisfactory enhanced DBS disclosure.
Commitment to safeguarding and equality policies.
