Main Purpose of the Job
The post holder may be responsible for the deployment and supervision of the work of learning support assistants relevant to their responsibilities.
You will be responsible for the learning and achievement of all students in the class and ensuring equality of opportunity for all students. You will also be responsible and accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in your work and conduct.
Teachers should have due regard to the Teacher Standards (2012). Teachers’ performance will be assessed against the teacher standards as part of the appraisal process as relevant to their role in the school. Teacher will treat all students with dignity, build relationships rooted in mutual respect and at all times observe proper boundaries appropriate to a teachers professional position and according to the individuals level of capacity and cognition.
Responsibilities
Take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school.
Be responsible for the preparation and development of teaching materials, programmes and pastoral arrangements to support levels of independence and enhance future opportunities for learners
Be aware of students capabilities, their prior knowledge and plan sequenced teaching and differentiate appropriately to build on these, demonstrating knowledge and understanding of how students learn
Have a clear understanding of the needs of students with ASC, learning disabilities and other complex needs, gifted and talented, EAL, disabilities and be able to use and evaluate distinctive teaching approaches to engage and support them.
Work proactively and effectively to liaise with learners, parents/carers, members of the SLT, the Transitions and Admission Co-ordinator and external agencies about appropriate pathways for the Post-16 students.
To be responsible for leading and coordinating the teaching and learning within the Post-16 phase, supporting and advising as appropriate.

Be a positive role model and demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values and behaviours that are expected of students.
Excellent numeracy and literacy skills
High level of competence using the internet, Word, Outlook and Excel
To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school.
High level of organisation, communication and inter-personal skills
Essential
Teacher Degree or appropriate equivalent
Further CPD and/or qualification in SEN
Desirable
First Aid qualification or willingness to undertake first aid training
Safeguarding training
Previous experience working in a SEN school or with children/young people with additional/complex needs in a Post16 setting.
Experience using a school system to analyse data and track/monitor students progress
