This role is hands-on in production, using production skills to fulfil orders with focus on delivering construction drawings and operating the production CNC machine whilst reporting to Production Management. The role has a wide range of skills and is responsible for ensuring that technical construction drawings are accurate, achievable and health & safety compliant. This is a responsible part of the team which ensures the successful realisation of projects from briefing in through to installation, often working to tight deadlines. This overall role upholds the values and behaviours of the company and is an integral part of the company.
Main Responsibilities:
• Prepare, amend and update construction drawings for the realisation and production of services
• Produce detailed specification and construction drawings of scenic elements, using CAD, Photoshop and/or manual drawing skills as appropriate
• Produce technical specifications for scenic elements, research special materials / construction methods and order items as required • Provide, communicate and distribute drawings, photographs and information to workshops, production and technical departments and contractors
• Liaise with Technical Manager & production team to discuss costings approach and verify detail.
• CNC machine operation including the preparation of files for cutting.
• CNC machine working area.
• Focus on workflow deadlines
• General production skills
• Keeping up to date with what’s going on in the industry and share this knowledge with the team
• Strong positive communication with production team, suppliers, subcontractors and clients
• Sustainable, ecological & ethical approach to working in line with the Company sustainability policy, ensuring minimising wastage & organise off cuts of production material for use on subsequent jobs.
This role is expected to always be a positive, proactive & supportive member of the team. The position must have ability to:
• demonstrate experience of scenic draughting in a theatre/events environment
• working positively with designers both in-house and external
• hold a firm understanding and experience of/advanced user of CAD
• Operate CNC machine
• prepare CNC files • be health & safety aware
• continuous improvement of methods and processes in terms of both quality and efficiency
• undertake any other reasonable tasks as required in order to fulfil the aims and objectives of the company & be a positive proactive member of the team at all times.
• demonstrate excellent IT skills including MS office in addition to any other software appropriate to the role. perform practical tasks in the workshop
• hold a sustainable approach to working at all times
• hold high levels of attention to detail and quality control
• work in a fast-paced industry with a flexible approach to working
• meet deadlines
• ensure successful communication flow with the wider team, clients and suppliers
• take direction from Workshop & Production Management
• remain professional at all times, even when under pressure
• be a positive ambassador for the Company at all times
• hold a full, clean driving licence•
• show strong communication skills
• be a team player with a collaborative approach to working
• have an ability to work unsupervised and show initiative in dealing with day-to-day problems
• show a willingness to learn new skills and help train others
