JOB PURPOSEnTo optimise production output through effective organisation, co-ordination and resource management, striving for continual improvements in machine efficiency, waste reduction, product quality and customer service levels.

KEY OBJECTIVESnTo ensure the operational team is capable of meeting evolving business needs.nTo set, monitor and achieve targets in key performance indicators such as waste, machine efficiency, customer service, quality, hygiene and health and safety.nTo develop the process capability in line with changing technology.nTo develop employees both individually and as teams and ensure effective day-to-day management of people, creating ahigh performing teamnIdentify resourcing needs and support the recruitment process as requirednMonitor engagement and identify opportunities to improvenTo ensure effective inter-departmental communicationnMaintain quality standards and achieve RFTnImplement and oversee continuous improvement initiatives across all areas of responsibility.

ACCOUNTABILITIESnPeoplenCo-ordinate, direct and control the activities of the production staff to meet production needs.nSet departmental objectives and monitor performance.nIdentify recruitment and development needs.nHandle discipline and grievance issues.nCreate and develop a team-working environment.

OperationsnSupport Team Leaders in achieving weekly targets in respect of production output, work in progress, service levels and machine efficiencies.nManage within departmental budgets set and identify opportunities for cost reductions in areas such as overtime, labour, consumables, maintenance and wastenOptimise equipment and resource usage for effective and efficient output.nBe proactive in developing solutions to operational issues.

CommunicationnEnsure effective communication within and from all areas of production to achieve common business aims.nProvide regular performance statistics/reports as directed.

Systems/ProceduresnEnsure compliance with all existing systems, standards and procedures within all areas to satisfy both company and customer requirements – ISO, hygiene, health & safety.nIdentify opportunities for improving systems of work, and successfully implement.nControl waste effectively.nDrive through and support the introduction of new systems and procedures.nDirect and manage technical innovation and introduction within your departments.
