About the role

The Head of SFG20 Maintenance Strategy is responsible for supporting the strategic direction and expansion of SFG20 products and services, in line with market trends within the Facilities Management (FM) sector.

Practical working knowledge and experience of the SFG20 standard are vital to enable the role holder to act as a spokesperson for SFG20, utilising industry experience to present at and participate in industry events.

Your expertise will be instrumental in

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, industry influencers, and potential clients in the facilities management sector, positioning the company as a trusted advisor and thought leader.
  • Represent SFG20 at industry events, roundtables and working groups, such as BSI, IWFM and ISO committees.
  • Attend key client meetings where technical input is critical, for example large Government departments or large account
  • Champion SFG20's thought leadership by hosting/participating in webinars, educating audiences on SFG20's solutions and the future of building maintenance
  • Provide strategic input on key shifts in the SFG20 standard, for example, digital maintenance, carbon etc
  • Proactively build FM and maintenance industry trends and customer insights into our technical strategy
  • Develop and lead the strategy for:
    • Additional asset types / verticals for technical content
    • Identifying potential gaps within our strategy and building commercially sound plans to address these
    • Partnering with other external bodies, leading the agreement of contracts and ongoing relationship management
    • Ratification of SFG20 content
    • Internationalisation of content, including translation and adherence to local legislation
  • Harness facilities management and maintenance technical expertise and industry knowledge to continually input into the overall strategic direction of the business, while upskilling our wider teams
  • Work in collaboration with Marketing to review articles, webinar content and other go to market content

Essential experience

  • Demonstrable experience working at a senior level within the facilities management industry
  • In-depth knowledge of facilities management processes, challenges and emerging trends
  • Significant working knowledge and experience of the SFG20 standard gained within a previous facilities management role
  • Proven experience in leading high-performing teams within a technical environment
  • Experience working with large external organisations, such as Government departments
  • Experience in the practical application of technology and digital transformation in a facilities management environment
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences in the facilities management sector
  • Sound knowledge of commercial business planning and management
  • A proactive problem solver with experience in balancing operational and strategic priorities

Desirable experience

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent in an Engineering/Building Services/Facilities Management discipline with extensive experience in the management of planned maintenance
