Lead Data Scientist – 2 Days a week on site – London


SR2 are currently looking for a Lead Data Scientist for a key customer of ours in the insurance space.


In this role as a Lead Data Scientist, everything you do is measurable. A lot of what you do is focused around optimisation so you can clearly see the impact you can have on the business (one model on a previous project saved £5m last year).


Role & Responsibilities:

  • You will work closely with the data science and engineering teams to help deliver key projects on time.
  • Challenge existing methods to stay at the forefront of how data can be used to innovate.
  • Design, plan, and implement scalable and future-proof data science applications and pipelines.
  • Apply your expertise in analytics, data science, and the data storytelling to see beyond the numbers and understand how users interact with products and communications and how those insights can inform communication strategy.
  • You will act as both a hands-on Data Scientist and the Data Science team lead. It is expected you will have a significant individual contribution to the planning, architecture, development and deployment of data science insights and algorithms, whilst also setting best practices and providing guidance & mentorship.
  • You will look after a small team of data specialists, helping them move upwards & sideward into new career paths.
  • Partner with various stakeholders across the business to see how data science can solve different problems.
  • Work closely with the Head of Data Science to introduce new ideas that will benefit the wider business.


Ideal background:

  • Several years commercial experience working as a Data Scientist.
  • Technical expertise in Python, SQL, FastAPI (or similar).
  • Experience working with real-time data applications.
  • Excellent stakeholder management & communication – its technical AND people focussed.


Location: Central London (hybrid - 2 days onsite)

Salary: Up to £110,000
