Job Overview
An exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer with expertise in aerospace manufacturing and quality assurance. This role is open to both permanent and contract candidates, offering flexibility and competitive rates. The primary focus is to provide professional quality support across Manufacturing, Engineering, and Product Management, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and aerospace industry standards. The successful candidate will use statistical tools, audits, and process improvements to drive quality, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize a data-driven analytical approach to improve product quality and reliability.
- Ensure products meet quality, technical, and health & safety standards, aligning with customer satisfaction requirements.
- Work to ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and ensure compliance with aerospace-specific requirements.
- Conduct QSHE Audits across all business functions to drive compliance and best practices.
- Support delivery of quality and business KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
- Assist in new product implementation and system development to enhance manufacturing quality.
- Liaise with customers and internal teams to define and maintain strict product quality requirements.
- Improve process and document controls at every stage of manufacturing.
- Create and maintain quality documentation, including APQP, PPAP, FAIR, 8D, ISIR, and critical business/customer reports.
- Support metrology activities, ensuring precision and compliance with specifications.
- Drive Total Cost of Quality initiatives, including operational efficiency, non-conforming materials, rework, returns, and scrap reduction.
- Conduct formal monthly reporting, auditing, monitoring, and reviewing quality results.
- Perform supplier audits and develop appropriate improvement plans to enhance supply chain quality.
- Maintain supplier relationships and annually update supplier profiles.
- Support in-house and external calibration systems to ensure measurement accuracy and compliance.
Key Skills & Relevant Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a relevant Quality Engineering role, preferably in aerospace or a highly regulated industry.
- Professional Quality or Technical Qualification (e.g., Six Sigma, AS9100 knowledge preferred).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality control.
- Experience with zero defects philosophy and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency in engineering drawings and Geometric Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Evidence of promoting best practices and process improvements.
- Competency in applying Six Sigma tools and techniques.
- Excellent time management, organization, and attention to detail.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, project management tools, and PowerPoint presentations.
- Strong teamworking and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across departments.
