Concast converts liquid steel into billets, blooms and slabs and has just installed a new £55 million Billet Caster to cast a broader range of high-quality steel billets which are processed into products including automotive applications, springs and fasteners. Working as a Concast Team Leader you will be responsible for supervising British Steel craft and contractor resource to ensure safe and effective maintenance of equipment.
Reporting to the Maintenance Engineer for the area and working alongside other multi disciplined Team Leaders you will provide front line supervision, technical advice, planning, reporting and will be expected to lead and motivate the team to achieve the desired plan.
To be considered for this position you must be qualified to a minimum NVQ Level 3, or equivalent in a relevant mechanical trade or have served a recognised apprenticeship*.
Ideally you will have experience of mechanical maintenance and fault finding within a commercial or heavy engineering environment, essential to the role is the ability to adapt to new equipment. You must be flexible, have a desire to learn and develop.
Knowledge of steelmaking and engineering supervision would be beneficial but is not essential, as extensive training will be provided.
