Agenda are recruiting for an Experienced Animal Technician for one of our prestige clients based in Cambridge. We are looking for an individual who shows care and empathy towards animals under their charge and embraces the 3R’s ethos. You will be required to work to departmental Standard Operating Procedures standards and should have a keen eye for detail.
Basic Requirements:
* Holder of a Home Office personal license A and B
* IAT Level 3 or animal related qualification
* A minimum for 4 years’ experience working as an Animal Technician with rodents
* Have previous experience of working in a Biological Resource Facility
* Demonstrable knowledge and experience working under the of Home Office Legislation and Animal Act 1986.
* Have a proactive approach to work, taking ownership of your own learning and development
* Ability to coach and mentor others
* Customer focused, listen to and respond to customer requirements
* Significant experience undertaking a variety of regulated procedures
* Previous experience working with rodents
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Provide day to day husbandry, maintenance and care of animal colonies
* Approved trainer/assessor in routine husbandry procedures
* Establishing new breeding’s, weaning and sexing of offspring and performing animal identification methods
* Understanding of phenotypes and procedures that may be used to manage phenotypic animals
* Be responsible for breeding and maintaining genetically altered animals
* Provide post operative care
* Feeding and watering, including the provision of altered diets and other specialist provisions
* Dosing using standard routes and also tissue sampling and collection
* Performing blood sampling techniques
* Monitor the health status of all animals through observation and regular health reports
