Role & Department

Canon EMEA is looking for an (Indirect) Category Specialist in the Procurement department. In this role you will drive delivery of benefits to the EMEA organization by development, implementation and monitoring of procurement solutions in the area of Indirect Categories (Non Product related) thereby contributing to realizing the overall procurement function and Stakeholders objectives.

Tasks & Responsibilities

As an (Indirect) Category Specialist you will be responsible for:

  • Developing the Pan European Procurement strategy for the assigned category related expenses in partnership with the stakeholders;
  • Proactively identifying cost saving opportunities. Executing savings projects agreed with the Stakeholder leadership in order to deliver targeted savings and manage the actual spend to achieve budget targets;
  • Executing the sourcing strategy for the assigned category by designing and executing large (inter)national tender projects and advising management on suppliers selection, based on the tender results;
  • Evaluating existing and renew contracts by identifying and prioritizing opportunities for reduction of the total cost of ownership and Support legal in contract drafting;
  • Defining Service Level Agreements and KPI’s with suppliers, in partnership with the stakeholders;
  • Managing relationship with internal customers and suppliers. Also support the governance and approval processes;
  • Monitoring contract compliance of the supplier base at Canon and manage the contract database at the procurement department for the assigned category;
  • Support the governance and approval processes.

What we ask

For this role, you will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree and more than 10 years of experience or a Master’s degree and more than 5 years’ experience;
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken;
  • Proven experience in minimum two procurement categories, with the preference for indirect categories like: travel, lease cars, logistics (warehousing & transportation), IT, HR, marketing,  professional services, BPO (Business Process Outsourcing)
  • Knowledge in an international environment and tactical role in Procurement. Familiar with strategic procurement and working relationship with a supplier base;
  • Good negotiation skills. Experience in contract management and costs analysis;
  • Ability to perform this role with the highest ethical standards; act fairly, objectively and in the best interests if Canon;
  • Able to work well with PowerPoint, Excel and Word.

A plus would be to have a CIPS level 4 or higher.
