A vacancy has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join this leading civil engineering business based at offices in North and West Yorkshire.nthe role offers genuine scope to progress to Commercial Manager as the business continues its growth trajectory.

Whilst the role will be office based there will be travel to sites and subcontractor premises will be required; this may require overnight stays.

The role briefly encompasses the following duties: -

Risk analysis and advising on contractual matters. Identifying, valuing and agreeing additional works and scope within the project, including the preparation and agreement of variations, quotations and re-ratesnPreparation of contractual and general correspondence.nRaising and responding to contractual notices, early warning notices, compensation events, variations and the like, including negotiations with the Employers and his representatives.nCost control, cost management and comparisons against budget and tender allowances.nPreparing and updating financial reports including accurate and detailed monthly CVR's, cash flow forecasts, weekly site costs, commercial risk registers, material wastage reconciliations and other financial and commercial reports as required.nPreparing, negotiating and agreeing interim applications, valuations and final accounts in conjunction with the Site QS, including substantiation of claims for compensation events, additional works, delays, disruptions and financing.nProviding advice and offering commercial support to the project team on costs, contractual matters, commercial strategies, risk and other commercial matters.nWorking with the project planners to prepare and update the contract programmes. This includes benchmarking and the preparation of cause-and-effect programmes.nProcuring subcontractors / consultants, including the preparation of Subcontract documents / Consultancy Orders.nMentoring and leading the site Quantity Surveyors and head office commercial administration resources.nGeneral and commercial administration and management of Subcontractors / Consultants from enquiry stage through to negotiation and settlement of final accounts. Including receiving and responding to subcontractor applications, notices, claims and variations, agreement of interim / final measures and additional work items, responding to notices, agreeing and raising interim payments, agreeing final accounts and reporting liabilities.nAttendance at progress meetings, design meetings, subcontractor meetingsnMaintaining accurate site records, measures and site diaries.nUpholding and enforcing compliance with company systems and best practice.nWorking with the bid teams in the preparation of tenders.nInterfacing with the finance department.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/experience/ attributes:-

Minimum of ten years post qualification experience on turnkey projects as a contractornNegotiation skills.nAbility to work with different business cultures.nA strong team player.nClient focused.nAn ability to plan, manage and co-ordinate subcontractors, designers and consultants.nStrong knowledge of NEC 3 forms of Contract.nProficient Microsoft Office user including Excel and Word.nAn understanding of planning software (P6 and MS Project).nAble to demonstrate a high level of numeracy and literacy.
