ABOUT THE ROLE
My client is seeking a Quantity Surveyor with expertise in steel fabrication within the area Kimbolton. In this role, you will manage the financial aspects of structural design, manufacturing and installation projects, ensuring cost efficiency and adherence to budget constraints while prioritizing our clients' requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate cost estimates for structural design projects, including materials, labour, and overhead expenses.
Budget Management: Monitor project budgets throughout the design process, identifying cost-saving opportunities and mitigating financial risks.
Procurement: Coordinate procurement activities, including sourcing materials and subcontractor services, obtaining quotes, and negotiating contracts to ensure value for money.
Financial Reporting: Generate regular financial reports and forecasts, providing insights into project costs, variances, and profitability.
Change Management: Evaluate and manage changes to project scope, specifications, and budgets, assessing their impact on costs and timelines.
Value Engineering: Collaborate with the design team to identify opportunities for value engineering and cost optimization without compromising quality or performance.
Contract Administration: Administer contracts with suppliers, subcontractors, and consultants, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions and resolving any disputes or discrepancies.
Risk Management: Identify and assess financial risks associated with structural design projects, developing strategies to mitigate them and ensure project success.
Client Engagement: Communicate effectively with clients regarding project costs, budgets, and financial matters, addressing their concerns and ensuring their satisfaction throughout the design process.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to align financial objectives with project goals and timelines.Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
Relevant experience in quantity surveying, cost management, or project controls within the construction industry.
Strong analytical and numerical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficiency in cost-estimating software and tools.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders effectively.
Knowledge of relevant regulations, codes, and standards related to construction contracts and procurement processes.Benefits:
