Devon is committed to supporting all children to access their full educational potential.
The Elective Home Education Service provides advice and support to home educating families, as well as undertaking the local authority’s duty to establish the suitability of home education provision.
We are a small team, comprised of primary and secondary education specialists, a SEND adviser, and a family support worker. All advisers are experienced teachers and are familiar with the challenges of both school and home education settings.
We are seeking to recruit a highly skilled and experienced Elective Home Education Adviser to complement the existing expertise within the team and offer excellent support to our home educating families.
What do I need to do the role?
* Knowledge and understanding of Elective Home Education and alternative provision
* Outstanding communication skills and high levels of emotional intelligence;
* Support and challenge to ensure that home educated children are having their educational and welfare needs met
* The ability to inspire confidence in others, including in challenging and complex situations
* Excellent organisational skills including effective time management
* A good knowledge of the school curriculum (across all key stages)
* Experience of supporting small groups and individuals; teaching across Key Stages, within either a primary or secondary setting
* Understanding of a range of complex needs and their possible impact on learning
* Open minded, ability to think outside the box, a reflective thinker
What else do I need to know?
* This position will require completion of an application form.
* The role is mobile and you will be required to hold a full driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use
* It would be advantageous to be based in North Devon
* An enhanced DBS and CBL check is required for this post
