Key ResponsibilitiesnResponsible for automating virtual CAE techniques for battery, fuel cell, electric drive unit and IC engine durability. Powertrain CAE requires robust and repeatable processes to support the digital product development phase. The application of such tools is used to assess and optimise design solutions as well as validating the design prior to the hardware release.nDevelop tools and techniques which enhance speed, capability, improve quality and robustness of virtual models.nDevelop tools and techniques which enhance speed, capability, improve quality and robustness of virtual modelsnDevelop coding to automate new and existing CAE process to reduce time and improve quality.nDetermine automation and optimisation requirements, metrics and targets.nIdentify process short comings and opportunities to improve.nSupport department prevent reoccurrence process identify CAE failures and undertaking annual projects to resolve.nSupport methods reviews as appropriate contributing ideas.nSupport agile ceremonies such as start-up, backlog refinement, retrospective and sprint planning.nPresent achievements at showcases.nSupport internal customers of our business where necessary.nSupport software vendors, universities and engineering service providers when necessary.nSupport outsourced methods projects as required.nSupport the training of CAE members.nSupport familiarisation of CAE members with CAE automation processes.nSupport the design, development workstreams within the scope of the engineering development projects.nConduct the analysis / simulations and development with utmost quality within agile framework.nDynamic & static attribute targets to be integrated into the product design assessment. Support prototype design freeze activities for customer applications, support customer production / prototype sites & liaise with their engineering team.nDevelop and deliver new process training material.nUndertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested.nSupport issue resolution and warranty activity as required.nUndertake virtual verification of the PT units as required.

Skills Knowledge and ExperiencenEssential:nExcellent understanding of process automation and optimisation, including pre-processing and post-processing automation.nWorking knowledge and experience of CAE methodologies.nPrevious experience and background in solving complex technical ideas and challenges.nPrevious experience of delivering engineering or analytical projects.nCompetent in the use of the following software and associated pre and post processing packagesnVBA / MATLAB / Simulink / Python / JAVA /nExperience using similar software packages will be considered.nRelevant degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Desirable:nPrevious experience in any of the following CAE software:nFEA: DS AbaqusnCFD: Star CCM+, GT PowernMeshing: PreHypermesh, SimlabnPrevious experience of battery / electric drive units and internal combustion component / system level development using CAE to meet defined performance targets.nExperience in continuous improvements to business processes to support customer service and financial objectives.nExperience in advanced physical measurement techniques.nExperience in proposing product modifications to improve design.nExperience working in AGILE.
