Overall purpose:nThe Programme Leader role is a key post holder in our academic management structure. The role involves the academic and line management responsibilities for a specific programme and associate staff. There will be a limited number of teaching hours associated to the role, but responsibility will be for ensuring the programme meets the associated learning, teaching and assessment requirements and an excellent academic experience for the students. The role will be hybrid with associated duties both on-campus and online.

Requirements for this role:nExperience of working with QAA for validation of programmes.nWorking experience with evidence of applying Quality assurance.nExperience of curriculum manager rolenExperience of Engineering or computing projectsnExperience of involvement in the assessment and delivery of programmes and have a good understanding of the units being assessed.

Specific duties and responsibilities:nThe key responsibilities of a programme leader are to:n• Manage the day-to-day delivery of the programme. Specific experience managing the day-to-day delivery of the HND Pearson programme is critical.n• Ensure a positive academic student experience.n• Monitor, review and enhance the teaching learning and assessment of a programmen• Manage and ensure all assessments and marking are delivered appropriately and to the required standard.n• Work with both internal and external stakeholders to support the management of the programme.

EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL QUALITIESnEssential:n• Experience in academic programmes’ management.n• Experience of teaching, curriculum development and quality management and enhancement in an HE environment.n• Evidence of excellent teaching identified by peer review.n• Evidence of a positive impact at discipline programme level beyond own teaching.n• Understand equal opportunity issues as they may impact on academic content and issues relating to student need.n• Excellent written and verbal communication skillsn• Able to communicate complex and conceptual ideas to a range of groups.n• Able to demonstrate independent and self-managing working styles.n• Able to undertake duties at different premises including any campus within London as required.n• Expected to work outside of normal office hours as required.n• Expected to engage in activities associated with promotion, marketing and public outreach of the subject area.

Desirable:n• Relevant industrial experience.n• Experience of research and enterprise activity.n• Evidence of high-quality publications or other outputs in research or practice.n• Demonstrable ability to lead research projects, win bids and generate income.n• Able to participate in and develop external networks.
