Key Responsibilities for an SEN Teaching Assistant:
Provide individualised support to students with ASD and SEMH needs, promoting their well-being and encouraging positive behaviour.
Collaborate closely with the class teacher and other professionals to develop tailored educational plans that meet the specific needs of each student.
Assist in implementing effective teaching strategies and interventions to enhance the learning experience for students with SEN.
Foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment, creating a safe space where students can thrive and reach their full potential.
Monitor and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records and communicating effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders.
Requirements of an SEN Teaching Assistant:
Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant, ideally with a focus on ASD and SEMH.
A genuine passion for supporting children with SEN, demonstrating empathy, patience, and understanding.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
Knowledge of effective SEN teaching strategies and interventions, as well as a commitment to continuous professional development.
Relevant qualifications and certifications in SEN support are desirable but not essential.
