Role Purpose and Summary:
This role sits within a Hub within the Investment, Development & Planning Team, comprising a blend of skillsets and experience including acquisitions, planning, and technical development expertise.
The role will assist in the management of the Planning team and associated Hubs, in negotiating and securing planning permission, responding to planning queries efficiently, and undertaking any other necessary tasks to achieve the above. The role also requires specialist town planning experience, skills, and knowledge related to our core 'residential for rent' tenures.
Key Responsibilities:
Negotiate and secure planning permission
Build the case for planning approval, prepare the associated reports and application documentation, and manage applications through to determination.
Generate ideas for obtaining planning permission and resolving issues, discussing the benefits and disadvantages with the Planning Director.
Respond to planning queries, liaising with local planning authorities and other organizations as required.
Stay technically astute and continuously develop professional skills through regular reading and research of the planning system, case law, and other developments.
Independently prepare, review, and present draft documents for planning appraisals and applications.
Liaise with other members of the Hub team on planning and administrative matters, including project managing external consultants.
Attend and support the preparation for public and stakeholder consultation events/exhibitions required for planning applications and report back to colleagues and the wider business.
Mentor Graduate Planners preparing for their MRTPI and PDP in general.
Complete other tasks as required by the Strategic Planning Director, senior Directors, or the company as a whole.Requirements:
Proven experience as a Senior Planner in the construction or property development industry.
Strong knowledge of project management principles and best practices.
Proficiency in planning software and tools, such as MS Project, Primavera, or similar.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
A relevant degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
Membership in a professional body such as the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) is preferred.Benefits:
Company Car or Car Allowance: £5,430 per annum (petrol/diesel vehicle) or £7,200 per annum (Electric/PHEV vehicle).
Annual Discretionary Bonus: Capped at 15% of salary, linked to Group performance (75%) and personal performance (25%) in a financial year running from 1st October to 30th September. All bonus payments are at the discretion of the Plc Board (after probation is successfully passed).
Pension: Matched 5% contribution (after probation is successfully passed).
Hours of Work: 39.75 hours per week, 08:00 - 17:00 Monday to Thursday, and 08:00 - 15:30 Friday. A 45-minute unpaid lunch break is provided each working day.
