About the role: 
We have an exciting opportunity for a Tax Specialist to join our Tax team at Cadent Gas Ltd. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring that the Group remains compliant with UK tax legislation and meets all tax reporting obligations. You will work closely with the Indirect Tax Manager and Direct Tax Manager, providing support across a broad range of tax matters and contributing to key projects within the Tax team.
As a Tax Specialist, you will engage in diverse tax-related activities, including scheduled and ad-hoc assurance work on employment tax and VAT risks. You will support the preparation and submission of VAT returns and other tax filings and assist in delivering tax training across the business. Additionally, you will advise on ad-hoc tax queries and undertake analysis under the guidance of the Tax Managers.
What you'll get to work on:
Review and analyze financial data from various departments to aid in decision-making, providing informed tax-related recommendations.
Support with the production of and completion of the quarterly VAT return and other indirect tax returns and support the collation of the annual PSA return to HMRC.
Respond to HMRC queries in a timely and accurate manner.
Undertake routine tax compliance activities across a range of business areas and contribute to adherence to the company’s tax strategy and effective tax risk management.
Aid in delivering process efficiencies and optimizing tax-related processes.
Prepare material to enable delivery of training to business functions and maintaining visibility of tax across the group
Participate in strategic tax projects or business initiatives as required and assist the Tax Managers with tax-related configurations and implementations of new systems.
Provide ad-hoc support and analysis to enhance the value of corporate tax reliefs, particularly Capital Allowances and R&D Allowances, to optimize capital expenditure.
Support aspects of the corporate tax computations under the direction of the Direct Tax Manager. Who are we looking for: Qualifications:
Recognized Accountancy Qualification (ACCA / ACA / Etc.)
Tax qualification **desirable** Practical Experience:
Solid knowledge of either indirect taxation or direct taxation, with a willingness to develop expertise in the other area.
Proficiency in SAP ECC, SAP BW, and SAP reporting systems.
Organizational skills with the ability to meet tight statutory deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a small, collaborative team.
