The Role: We are seeking an enthusiastic and resilient PE Teaching Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will assist our PE teachers in delivering high-quality physical education lessons, with a specific focus on supporting students with challenging behaviour. You will play a crucial role in promoting positive behaviour, engagement, and participation in physical activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist PE teachers in planning and delivering engaging and inclusive PE lessons.
Support students with challenging behaviour, helping them to engage positively in physical activities.
Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
Provide one-on-one and small group support to students as needed.
Help set up and maintain PE equipment and facilities.
Foster a safe and supportive learning environment.
Contribute to the development of individualized support plans for students with specific needs.
Monitor and report on student progress and behaviour to teaching staff and parents.
Participate in school-wide initiatives and extracurricular activities related to physical education.
Key Skills, Attributes, and Requirements:
A passion for physical education and promoting active lifestyles.
Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly those with challenging behaviour.
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the needs of the students and school.
Relevant qualifications in physical education, sports coaching, or a related field are desirable.
