A new vacancy for a Buyer has become available. As a Buyer, you will be responsible for maintaining stock levels, in line with customer requirements and forecasts, while striving to meet stock targets. Working to cost reduction targets and purchasing stock to allow for optimum return on investment in line with the company KPIs.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best deal considering the price, lead times, stock turns, supplier’s performance, and quality.
  • Maintain the reorder point and stock levels, in accordance with average monthly sales and customer forecasts.
  • Review and be responsible for the Purchasing Reports and provide the Purchasing group with recommendations.
  • Supplier management including forecasting, ordering process, delivery, and quality performance.
  • Review POs to understand if there are other alternatives available (stock transfer excess from somewhere else) whilst respecting supplier requirements.
  • Supplier research, evaluation & selection to continually strengthen our supply base and ensure we are matching opportunities with appropriate suppliers.
  • Works with internal stakeholders to ensure we are identifying opportunities to reduce costs.
  • Keeps up to date with both the commercial market conditions and influencing factors.
  • Competencies
  • Relating and Networking - The ability to build and actively maintain formal and informal professional relationships.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • A degree or diploma in Supply Management or a related subject and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in purchasing or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel including VLOOKUP, Pivot tables, formulas, and index matching
  • Understanding of general and contract inventory; turnover rate; inventory service level, contracts and general; % of slow moving and obsolete inventory.
  • Proactive and flexible approach
  • Power BI would be a distinct advantage
