Cleansing Operative

You will make a difference in supporting South Gloucestershire to be a nicer place to live and work, by working in a vital front-line team carrying out street cleansing duties. You will be responsible for collecting litter, clearing spaces of land and removing bulky waste.

• In the role you will be working outside in all weathers on verges, footpaths, roadways, collecting litter and assisting in the removal of waste in a variety of settings, as well as controlling weed growth and removing graffiti.
• You may be working on high-speed roads and on occasion might be working in unpleasant and hazardous environments.
• To ensure your health and safety you will be required to abide by strict guidelines to comply with appropriate legislation, and instructions relating to waste disposal.
• Depending on your duties, weekend and night-time work may be involved, for which the appropriate enhancement will be paid.

• It is essential that you hold a full driving license to at least category B for manual transmission vehicles and be competent to drive vehicles up to maximum 3500kg MAM.
• We require you to be physically fit, as this job involves extensive walking and frequent manual handling tasks and working outdoors in varying weather through the year.
• You must have the ability to read and follow written work instructions, read maps and complete paper records.
