Key Purpose of the Job

The Project Manager is responsible for overall management of the project including liaising with the client; coordinating and leading partners; supervising members of the project team; and overseeing project implementation, financial and administrative oversight, reporting, and monitoring and evaluation of the project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineers, architects etc. to determine the specifications of the project.
  • Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements. Obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities.
  • Ensure project handover is completed to required timescales & delivery milestones. Ensure relevant safety, quality & environmental management systems are implemented, kept up to date & that site resources have the correct competencies & support regular inspections for compliance.
  • Ensure team are focused to meet customer’s requirements & project objectives – provide overall guidance & management to ensure project success.
  • Manage construction risk & opportunities effectively - take responsibility for the identification, allocation & management of the construction risk & opportunities, taking effective mitigation measures to reduce on site risk.
  • Project Manager will have overall operational and management responsibility in completing all process and will serve as its primary spokesperson.
  • The Project Manager will manage the activities of all members of the Planning staff as they are involved in the project, including one Point of Contact, and accounting, communications, and administrative staff assigned to the project.
  • Provides strategic leadership and technical, operational, financial, and managerial leadership for successful implementation of project activities.
  • Participate in the planning and formulation of design alternatives and solutions for the construction project; provide conceptual estimates, feasibility studies, and cost estimates, and may coordinate the production of basic design plans and construction documents.
  • Review and interpret proposed designs, architectural drawings, and building specifications for appropriateness to required function and/or institutional standard and initiate revisions where appropriate; advise consultants and clients as to how best to achieve required results.
  • Ensure that project operations follow design specifications and client requirements.
  • Establish performance and delivery criteria, ensuring that client requirements are being met; prepare project specifications, and coordinate procurement as appropriate.


Educational Qualification

  • BSc/BA in engineering, building science or relevant field.
  • PMP or equivalent certification will be an advantage.


Additional Qualifications / certifications

  • Good knowledge of MS Office.
  • Familiarity with construction/ project management software.


Prior experience

  • 5+ years of proven experience as construction project manager.

In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles.

  • Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards.

  • A team player with leadership abilities.
