Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project has started construction and is now seeking private investment. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

We are seeking a highly skilled Temporary Utilities Manager to join our team at the Sizewell C project. This critical role involves managing the limited temporary utility supplies on site to ensure the timely progression of the project. You will be responsible for the strategic management, coordination, and execution of all utilities requirements during the early works phase, ensuring that delays are avoided and that all activities comply with permit conditions and the Development Consent Order (DCO).

The Role

As Temporary Utilities Manager for Sizewell C, you’ll be responsible for managing the scarce temporary supplies on the site before the main utility connections become available and are executed swiftly to avoid delays to the project.

You’ll be the primary point of contact responsible for:

Lead the resolution of any issues arising with the management and/or provision of temporary supplies

Encourage SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) feedback and take a leading role in addressing SHE-related issues associated with the provision and management of the temporary Utilities.

Develop strong working relationships with other teams to understand their requirements and needs for temporary supplies.

Foster cooperation and build strong working relationships with Utilities Designers, Contractors, temporary Utility suppliers and external stakeholders as on when required.

Ensure client satisfaction regarding delivery time, cost, and quality of the temporary supplies.

Lead a team responsible for effective coordination with Utilities Construction teams, including Design, Temporary Works, and Consents Managers, to ensure compliance with DCO and best practices.

Ensure that records of consumption and demands for temporary utilities required by the various project teams are captured and kept up to date.

Provide the required information for the environmental permits associated with the temporary utilities.

Ensure effective coordination with internal stakeholders, such as the Construction, Environmental and Site Operations team.

The Skills

You’ll have proven experience (minimum 5 years) in utilities coordination or management on large construction projects, managing multidisciplinary teams and prior experience in major programme projects.

In-depth knowledge of utility management in large-scale construction or infrastructure projects with strong leadership and team management skills, excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

Risk management and problem-solving skills and knowledge of environmental management and sustainability practices are all essential to the success of this role.

Desirable:

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, or a related field.

Professional certifications in project management e.g., PMP or Prince2.

Familiarity with nuclear power plant projects or similar high-compliance environments would also be a distinct advantage.
